The Church of Scotland Local & National Area Groups The Church of Scotland decided that each Presbytery should allocate resources to cover the work of the national church throughout the land. Each Presbytery had to prepare a plan which would indicate where the Presbytery would be in ten years time. Our Presbytery approved a plan in December 2006 which stated that the congregation of Cluny and Monymusk would, by the end of the plan or due to the demission of the minister be one united congregation. As part of that plan we are also to be part of an "Area Group" of congregations which shall try to work together and share respurces for the good of the Church. Our area group comprises the congregations of Cushnie & Tough Howe Trinity Website www.howetrinity.org.uk Kemnay Website www.kemnaychurch.org.uk Monymusk website www.monymuskchurch.org.uk Upper Donside and of course Cluny
Structure of Church of Scotland Cluny Church is part of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland. The Church structure is a series of Courts starting with at the local level the congregation which is controlled by a Kirk Session.
At the regional level the congregation belongs to the Presbytery of Gordon. This is a group of 29 congregations centred around Inverurie and stretching to Huntly, Newburgh, Methlick, Strathdon, Westhill and all points within.
At the national level the highest court is the General Assembly.
These pages will be used to post information about the work of Presbytery as it effects Cluny and of the wider church through the General Assembly and its committees We shall also hope from time to time to post information about our brothers and sisters in other denominations.
